Careers for games designers usually start by acquiring a set of skills that is used by the games production team. There are a number of skills areas in the team, including the games programmers - they usually program in C++, Java or Visual Basic; testers, who are usually skilled games players who work on contract to each game as it is developed. The design team includes the Lead designer, who operates as the team leader; level designers who are given responsibility for specific areas in the game. They in turn will work with the graphic designers for the visuals, sound engineers and with the written designers, who are responsible for any dialog in the game, and manuals and help systems.
