Free Application for Federal Student Aid
In order to obtain any student funding you are eligible for, you need to complete and submit a FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid (and do so every year you are in college).
A FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid form is not difficult to complete, but it requires a lot of information. Going about it in an organized way will save you time and help you get your application right.
Are you eligible for FSA?
If you are a US citizen (or eligible noncitizen) with a valid social security number, a high school diploma, and are enrolled on an approved program you are probably eligible. Check with your college’s Financial Aid Office to clarify this.Get your documents together
You will need at least the following- Your social security number
- Your driver’s license (if you have one)
- All documents relating to all sources of income and tax. You will need the same for your spouse (if you are married) and your parents if you are financially dependent on them
- Up to date bank statements
- Records of any business or investment activity
