The Department of Labor points out that there is no single established path for entry into this field. However, most employers will require a bachelors or associates degree in a computer or computer-related field. Because of the broad range of knowledge and skills involved, this only makes sense.

After all, you’re fixing computers from a remote location. You have to know your stuff. Communication skills are also important since users tend to call when they are frustrated, confused, or desperate.

Job Outlook for a Computer Support Specialist

If you’re thinking of getting involved in the world of tech support, now is a good time to do it. The Department of Labor predicts that growth for this particular job is going to be high owing to the surge in consumer electronics and personal computer sales. Not only are more units being sold, but each new item has more gadgets, and thus, more breakable parts.
