The Department of Labor points out that there is no single established path for entry into this field. However, most employers will require a bachelors or associates degree in a computer or computer-related field. Because of the broad range of knowledge and skills involved, this only makes sense.

After all, you’re fixing computers from a remote location. You have to know your stuff. Communication skills are also important since users tend to call when they are frustrated, confused, or desperate.
