Multimedia is a hot new field that offers many career possibilities. Because a multimedia education includes so many different areas of training, graduates of multimedia programs are well suited for more than just one career path. Web development, art direction, and animation are three popular options for multimedia experts. These careers offer good salaries and creative, fast-paced work environments.

Multimedia Career Employment in Web Development

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, multimedia web developers make around $51,750 to $74,520 per year. Web developers create website content for their companies. Multimedia developers specialize in content that encompasses several different media, such as text, graphics, animation, and music. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that job prospects for this field will be favorable through 2014.

Multimedia Salaries in Art Direction

Art direction is a good fit for people with multimedia training because they have a broad overview of how different media elements fit together to make a successful ad campaign, publication, or digital product. Art directors come up with the design concepts for their companies and work with staff that have different areas of specialized expertise to create a cohesive, unique product. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that art directors earn $63,840 on average. It predicts steady growth for the profession through 2014.

Animator Salaries

Animators most often work in motion pictures, computer systems design, and advertising. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, they should enjoy better career prospects than other types of artists. Animators can expect to make $50,360 per year.

If none of these career paths interest you, you should not give up on multimedia training quite yet. It is such a diverse field that you might find another multimedia career that feels like a perfect match.
